The SHERPA/RoMEO database contains information about the copyright and archiving policies of journal publishers.  Use it to ascertain which rights are assigned to the publisher and which are retained by the author.

Content submitted to eScholarShare must be checked to ensure it does not breach copyright regulations.  Many publishers allow articles published in their journals to be deposited into repositories, but there are usually conditions attached.  SHERPA/RoMEO clearly details these conditions using a color key.  For newly published research, be sure to check if there is an embargo for putting content into a repository.
